Summer Social

March 1, 2023 @ 8:00 am - March 4, 2023 @ 5:00 pm

$140

Here is it folks, The Summer Social!!

This is the next event as part of our Footwork Social Series and also our one year anniversary (in-person events). With it being our first year anniversary, we wanted to do something special for everyone so we’ve teamed up with the fine folks of Lampchanted Forest to bring you two main stages of music.

The Summer Social continues the Footwork series of events with a portion of the proceeds going towards art grants for future events as well as serving as a fundraiser for the Lampchanted Forest group to allow them to bring an even better experience to Otherworld next year.

If you attended Otherworld or Lampress, you know the level of production this team brings to the table! We are beyond stoked to be working side by side for this one and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the table.

These two stages will keep you bumping from 12:00 PM until sunrise alongside vendors, artists, and other surprises in store.

This event runs from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon. Overnight camping at Laketown Ranch is included with all tickets and we encourage early arrival to take full advantage of the weekend. Gates open at 10am and music kicks off at noon.

Volunteer sign-up: SummerSocial@footworkentertainment.ca

Gates are open for arrival from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM Saturday.

If you plan to arrive after 9:00 PM, you must confirm alternate arrangements via email, at SummerSocial@footworkentertainment.ca, in advance. Sunday is a relaxing, hang out, and pack out day! Plan to hang out and catch up with your friends and take your time on your way home. Final out time will be 3pm on Sunday

📍LOCATION

This event takes place on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish and Island Hul’qumi’num Speaking peoples. If you are unfamiliar with the land and people, we encourage you to learn more about the territory and the tribes that have been stewards of the land since time immemorial. If you haven’t already, we encourage all non-Coast Salish attendees of this event to consider how they can visit this land in a good way.

🔊MUSIC

We have two stages of music featuring a variety of talented artists. The Footwork stage features house and techno while the Lampchanted stage focuses on funk, breaks, DNB. and bass music. Headliners include Jon Delerious, Essette, Saturna, and Akela. We are also working on setting up a downtempo/Art/Chill stage;)

Sound is provided by the custom system featured at Otherworld at the Ironic Spin stage as well as the MindGarden’s Void system.

Jon Delerious (Nordic Trax)

Jon Delerious has been a staple in the Canadian House music scene since the mid 90’s.

His music ranges from the smoked out dubby house, deep house, downtempo and always has a signature organic vibe. Jon’s music appeals to a diverse and varied audience

and has been name checked from such artists as Gilles Peterson through to Laurent Garnier.

Some highlight releases include 5 Eps on Nordic Trax as well as the

critically-acclaimed artist album ‘No Warning’ (2004). Jon also has releases on Large Music, Lost My Dog, UM Recordings, Soulstar, Substation Recordings and more.

Jon has performed with some of the industry’s finest – including ‘Little” Louie Vega, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Kevin Saunderson, Mark Farina, Kaskade among many others. Jon Delerious continues to refine his skills as one of Canada’s leading electronic musical innovators.

Esette (Nordic Trax)

Notoriously resilient and innovative, Esette’s unyielding work ethic, paired with over twenty years of music industry experience have made her a household name in Western Canada.

As one of the guiding forces of cultural phenomena such as The Alberta Electronic Music Conference, Girls on Decks, Substation Recordings, Versions Patio Parties, Esette (aka Isis Graham) is equally comfortable behind the decks or behind the scenes.

Graham first began throwing raves in 1998, witnessing the height of Calgary’s renegade party scene with events that drew as many as 1600 people. In 1999 she began DJing, and after local

bylaws brought about the end of raves the following year, she brought her sounds to some of the most notable Western Canadian venues of the last two decades, appearing at legendary spots like the Embassy, Cherry Lounge, Habitat Living Sound, 9910, The Hifi Club, Open Studios, Beaumont Studios, Gorg-O-Mish, Bloom, and the Night Gallery. She’s been invited to play notable festivals like Bass Coast, WMC, Decibel, Think! Festival, Shambhala, and Amsterdam Dance Event.

In 2003 Graham was invited to become a founding member of Girls On Decks, a group dedicated to increasing the visibility of female & non binary DJs in dance music. Together with the other members, Graham showed her ability to incite critical change by giving numerous women DJs a platform to develop, an initiative that still remains today.

Since 2007, Graham has developed her catalog as a producer with a string of releases on Supremus Music, O*rs, Substation Recordings, RF and Nordic Trax and more. Her 30-plus releases have received support from artists like Maceo Plex, Fred Everything, Giom, Luke McKeehan, Animal Trainer, Vanilla Ace, Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, DJ Heather, DOZA, and Pezzner.

Saturna (Wildlife Division)

Hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, ethereal beatsmith Saturna has an artistic voice unlike any other. Saturna is a sonic story-teller who weaves layers of deeply emotive melodies and organic rhythms with cinematic flair.

A lifelong musician, Saturna is dedicated to stitching together narrative threads into a tapestry of distorted synths, warm throbbing basslines and lush percussive elements.

As a founder of Wildlife Division, Saturna is leading a collective of daring artists focused on pushing the boundaries through sound experimentation and live curation

Akela (Hydration)

Akela’s sound can be described as “Fast Soul Music with Teeth”. Primarily known for his take on soulful, evocative Drum’n’Bass, Akela’s sound envelops the listener with a warm blanket of subsonic affection and intuitive funkiness. Shaping his sets to complement the environment in which they’re played, Akela draws from his two decades of DJ experience in dance music, and his influences ranging from the early days of House right up to the spankiest new DnB show exactly that. Not limited specifically to DnB, Akela regularly performs Deep House, Dub Techno, and Lounge Music sets to round out his electronic repertoire. He creates upbeat moods, compelling short stories, and satisfied grins with his careful attention to minute sonic details, commanding the listener’s attention and unconscious wiggling of the pants area.

His contributions to the bass music scene have included leads and collaborations with Dub Selekta, Future Soul, Hydration Mix Series, Suave Assassins, Digital Motion, and Shah DJs. Akela has performed alongside some of the world’s top talent, including the likes of Andy C, Noisia, dBridge, LSB & DRS, Danny Byrd, Aries, Marcus Visionary, Spectrasoul, Technimatic, and Dieselboy among many others. He’s also performed at numerous festivals including Wicked Woods, Tall Tree, Rifflandia, Soundwave and Shambhala.
